Job SummaryThe Middle School Math Teacher at St. Gerard Majella Catholic School is responsible for providing rigorous, faith‑centered mathematics instruction that supports students’ academic growth, problem‑solving skills, and critical thinking development. This role delivers instruction aligned with diocesan and school curriculum standards while fostering a structured, engaging, and respectful classroom environment rooted in Catholic values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (required).
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage students through clear instruction and effective mathematical practices.
  • Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the mission of St. Gerard Majella Catholic School.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid teaching certification or eligibility (preferred).
  • Experience teaching middle school mathematics (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver standards‑based middle school mathematics instruction, including topics such as number sense, algebraic thinking, geometry, measurement, and data analysis.
  • Develop engaging lessons that promote mathematical reasoning, problem‑solving, and real‑world application.
  • Integrate Catholic values into classroom practices and interactions, supporting the mission of the school.
  • Create and maintain a positive, organized, and respectful classroom environment that supports student learning and accountability.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs and learning styles of students.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and behavior in accordance with school policies.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and academic expectations.
  • Collaborate with faculty, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, liturgical celebrations, and school events.
  • Adhere to all school policies, diocesan guidelines, and professional expectations.
