About The Position

Spotsylvania County Public Schools (SCPS) is seeking a dedicated Hourly Middle School Math Teacher specializing in Algebra Readiness for the 26/27 school year. SCPS is one of the largest School Divisions in Virginia, serving over 24,000 students across 31 schools. This role involves designing and implementing instructional programs to provide the best possible education for each student. The teacher will deliver teaching and/or training services in various capacities, including general instruction and specialized subjects. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board.
An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable.

Nice To Haves

Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s).
Prior teaching experience within a public school system.

Responsibilities

Designs coherent instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, current instructional practices, Adult Education standards, student needs, and curriculum goals.
Evaluates student progress and provides specific evaluative feedback.
Maintains appropriate records and reporting documents.
Selects, evaluates, and refines a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies for the active engagement of students in learning.
Works collaboratively with staff, families, and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population.
Models professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions.
Performs related duties as assigned by the corrections institution in accordance with the institution’s policies and practices.
