About The Position

Second Baptist School is currently seeking a Middle School Girl's Softball Coach. The goal of the Department of Athletics at Second Baptist School is to provide an environment of competition, cooperation and teamwork for our students that glorifies God and provides valuable life lessons. Winning the contest is important to any competitor, but the lessons learned in the heat of competition are the most important attributes to be gained from the contest. The Middle School Girl’s Softball Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the middle school softball program, including player development, practice preparation, game execution, communication and team culture. The middle school coach will model Christ-centered leadership while helping cultivate a competitive and positive team environment.

Requirements

Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Have prior experience in coaching and/or significant playing experience.
Understand and embrace Christian education; have a biblical perspective on athletics and competition.
Be able to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Be personable, energetic and approachable.
Report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
Be committed to professional growth.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Be willing to collaborate with colleagues.
Be proficient in technology.

Nice To Haves

Coaching experience, teacher certification and/or prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and School will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

Support the Head Coach in all aspects of the middle school softball program.
Assist in player development.
Assist in practice preparation.
Assist in game execution.
Assist in communication and team culture.
Model Christ-centered leadership.
Help cultivate a competitive and positive team environment.
Assist in leading and supporting all aspects of the varsity women’s softball program with professionalism and integrity.
Carry out the policies and procedures of the SBS athletic handbook.
Assume responsibilities assigned by the school and Director of Athletics.
Be a responsible steward of the school’s resources.
Mentor student athletes in their Christian faith, athletic skills and life skills.
