About The Position

The Middle School Football Coach is responsible for developing players, creating a winning program, and ensuring the smooth operation of the football team. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration with administration, enforcement of policies, and management of equipment and student athletes.

Requirements

  • Completion of required online concussion training.
  • Submission of completed roster a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the first game.
  • Maintenance of an accurate inventory of all equipment.
  • Evaluation of assistant coaches at the conclusion of the season.
  • Collection of all activity fees.
  • Ensuring players have signed required forms.
  • Entry of game scores into the MSHSAA website.
  • Submission of game statistics summaries.
  • Completion of MSHSAA required Online Rules Review.
  • Compliance with the University Academy grade check policy.
  • Advance notification to the building principal for missed teaching time or staff meetings.
  • Completion of officials’ ratings on the MSHSAA website.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic plan with the Athletic Director for player development, scholarship opportunities, and program success.
  • Collaborate with the Activities Director and/or administration on scheduling contests, practices, bus trips, and equipment purchasing.
  • Uphold and enforce all policies and procedures set by the Athletic Office and School Principals.
  • Ensure all players participate in the Athletic Department’s fundraising efforts.
  • Be responsible for the care and maintenance of all equipment and uniforms issued to players.
  • Complete required online concussion training.
  • Promptly notify the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer of any injuries and complete required reports.
  • Submit completed rosters at least two weeks prior to the first game.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment and uniforms, including student assignments.
  • Evaluate assistant coaches at the conclusion of the season and submit evaluations to the Athletic Director.
  • Collect all activity fees and turn in all collected monies for proper accounting.
  • Ensure all players receive a copy of the Student Athletic Handbook and have required forms signed and on file.
  • Enter game scores into the MSHSAA website and submit game statistics summaries to the Athletic Director.
  • Complete MSHSAA required Online Rules Review.
  • Comply with the University Academy grade check policy conducted every three weeks.
  • Contact the building principal at least one week in advance if teaching time or a scheduled staff meeting will be missed due to games or practices.
  • Complete officials’ ratings on the MSHSAA website.
  • Carry out all duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
