About The Position

The purpose of this position is to partner with parents and teachers in fostering a climate for students to achieve their God given potential through differentiation, curriculum development, and small group instruction with competence and compassion. This position actively engages in NorthPointe Christian’s mission of “Equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ.” This is a full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year in our Middle School Educational Support Services Department.

Requirements

Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational statements.
Bachelor of Arts in Education in Special Education or related field
Certification or endorsement in Learning Disabilities and/or cognitive impairment preferred.
Discernment and creativity in meeting student needs
Patience in guiding students with specific adjustment, cognition, and spiritual needs
Ability to promote personal development skills such as goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy
Commitment to building a community of belonging for all members of the NorthPointe Christian family.
Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening.
Exhibit the verbal ability to understand meaning of words, the ideas associated with them, and the ability to convey them to others clearly using oral expression and comprehension.

Responsibilities

Support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily activities.
Minister to students through prayer, encouragement, and wise counsel.
Follow safety protocols for where students can be and how to secure the building.
Professionally represents the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
Remain professional in attire and behavior.
Maintain confidentiality of all matters pertaining to students, employees, and donors as outlined in NPC’s Confidentiality Agreement.
Be timely in reporting to work and when at work.
Carry out the procedures and protocols in the employee handbook and respect decisions made by leadership.
Maintain open communication with leadership regarding questions, concerns, and needs.
As a representative of the school, all written and verbal interactions with parents/guardians, co-workers, and the community must be professional and reflect the school positively. This includes one’s appearance, the content of the communication, and presentation of it.
Plan and provide differentiated, remedial instruction to individuals and small groups of students; support in the push-in setting.
Assist with the implementation of testing accommodations such as making sure students receive study guides, accommodating tests, providing reader and scribe services; this could include assistance with standardized tests such as the SAT.
Plan parent meetings upon request and manage paperwork for specific caseload.
Meet with teachers to develop alternate activities in line with established accommodations.
Assist with record-keeping and filing; assist with year-end reporting procedures.
Participate in weekly team meetings.
Attend at least one professional training activity per semester.
Practice effective classroom management practices which reflect a respect and understanding of the students’ particular strengths and challenges.
Communicate positively and timely with team members, students, and parents a priority.
Be committed to respond to all parent communication in a timely manner (within 24 hours on school days).
Other duties as assigned by Administration and ESS Director/Coordinator.
