About The Position

Prelude Prep is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Pre-K through 8th grade in San Antonio. We are seeking a Middle School ELAR Teacher who is passionate about literacy, critical thinking, and helping students develop strong communication skills. Whether you are an experienced educator or someone with a strong background in reading, writing, communications, or a related field, we are looking for someone who believes students can achieve at high levels and is excited to help them get there. The ideal candidate values strong relationships, maintains high expectations, and understands the important role literacy plays in a student's future success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Eligibility to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Texas teaching certification in ELAR
  • Previous classroom teaching experience
  • Experience working with middle school students
  • Background in English, literature, communications, journalism, writing, or a related field
  • Experience tutoring, mentoring, coaching, leading youth programs, or working with children in another setting

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned ELAR instruction
  • Use complex texts, meaningful discussions, and authentic writing tasks to develop literacy skills
  • Create a structured classroom environment where students are challenged to think critically and communicate effectively
