About The Position

The Middle School ELA Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in grammar and writing for grades 5–8. This role integrates academic excellence with Catholic values, fostering students’ intellectual, moral, and spiritual development. The teacher supports the mission of Catholic education by modeling faith, promoting service, and nurturing the whole child. This role requires a deep understanding of ELA content and instructional best practices, the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and skill in integrating technology to enhance learning. A commitment to fostering a faith-filled, inclusive, and academically challenging environment is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Practicing Catholic preferred (or willingness to support Catholic teachings).
  • Experience teaching middle school students is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver rigorous ELA instruction aligned with state standards and school curriculum.
  • Guide students through the writing process, including narrative, informational, and argumentative writing.
  • Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction.
  • Create a positive, respectful classroom environment that reflects Catholic values.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and behavior.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Maintain classroom discipline consistent with school policies.
  • Serve as a role model of Christian behavior and values.
  • Support extracurricular activities, clubs, or student programs as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and faith formation.
