About The Position

Independence Mission Schools (IMS) is seeking a Middle School ELA Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year at St. Helena- Incarnation. IMS educates students of all faiths throughout Philadelphia, blending Catholic education with innovative teaching strategies. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the school community by building relationships with staff, parents, and students, and by mastering the craft of teaching. They should be eager to implement rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and possess a strong understanding of literacy instruction and mathematical practices. Teachers may also participate in committees and other professional activities. The candidate will model outstanding character, set high behavioral and academic expectations, and use student growth data to inform instruction. They should be an enthusiastic learner, committed to their own growth, and actively participate in the school community through coaching and extracurricular activities.

  • Ability to apply skills learned through frequent coaching, grade level teamwork and professional development.
  • Ability to actively participate in the school community by lending their skills and interests to coaching and moderating extracurricular activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching diverse learners and differentiating instruction (preferred)
  • A track record of leading students to successfully achieve those expectations (preferred)
  • Experience working with children and communities in an urban setting (preferred)
