About The Position

Rochester Academy Charter School (RACS) is a public K-12 charter school primarily serving students from the city of Rochester. We are a college preparatory school that uses data-driven instruction to foster student growth. At RACS, we believe that all students have the right to a high-quality education and that restorative practices are essential to a healthy school community. RACS is currently seeking a Middle School Career and Technical Education/ Business Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for a teacher who is excited to lead the way as we develop career pathways that begin with the foundations of business and technology at the 7th and 8th grade level. We are looking for team players who are passionate about urban education and ready to collaborate on curriculum planning and responsive lesson planning practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or relevant content area
  • New York State Teacher Certification is highly preferred
  • Experience in an urban school setting is preferred but not required.
  • A commitment to the belief that all students can succeed, and an interest in restorative justice.
  • International applicants must possess a work visa.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s preferred.
  • Candidates with out-of-state certification or in the process of certification will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver curriculum to match the State Standards and recommendations for CTE courses at the Middle Level.
  • Deliver engaging lessons that inform students about future career potential
  • Adapt lessons creatively to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment using restorative practices.
  • Work collaboratively with grade-level teams and the student support team to monitor student progress.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and mentoring programs.
  • Maintain regular communication with families regarding student achievement and behavior.
