About The Position

Intrepid College Prep is a network of free, college preparatory public charter schools located in the Antioch area of Greater Nashville, Tennessee. We educate scholars at two campuses: Opportunity Academy Middle School and Independence Academy High School. Our 5-12 model ensures that scholars have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous, college-preparatory education for eight years prior to their transition to college and the professional opportunities that follow. We are an open-enrollment school, which means that our scholars do not have to take an entrance test or pay tuition to enroll. Requirements

Effective communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
Holds a MS in School Counseling or MSW with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of two years counseling experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred, but not required.
Speaks Spanish or has experience working with bilingual students (preferred).

Responsibilities

Delivers comprehensive counseling services, activities, programs, and interventions critical to the academic and personal/social development of all students.
Run individual and group counseling sessions with research-based social and emotional practices.
Facilitate professional development for teachers to help them understand child development and how it affects student performance academically and social/emotionally.
Build relationships and collaborate with external education and social services professionals to develop appropriate agency services for students and families.
Develops a written, annual plan which is data driven and includes measurable goals which are appropriately scoped and sequenced based on the needs of the school and students.
Utilizes the Early Warning Indicators to implement targeted interventions for at-risk students.
Administers needs assessments regularly to identify and prioritize school and student needs.
Advocates and intervenes on behalf of each student whose immediate needs, concerns, or problems are impeding his/her academic and/or personal/social development.
Demonstrates program accountability using data to document the results of strategies and interventions that are used to improve student academic performance.
Partners with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and the community to remove barriers to student success and to close the achievement gap.
Protects confidentiality of records and information about students and staff. Must use discretion and adhere to all state laws and school policies when sharing any such information.
Collaborate with Scholar Support Team regularly to develop a plan to meet the needs of all learners.
Availability and willingness to engage in a limited number of evening/weekend student recruitment and parent outreach events.
