About The Position

This is an extracurricular coaching position paying an annual stipend. The Assistant Coach II will assist coaches in various secondary school athletic programs, promoting sports within the school and community, and supporting the head coach in planning, organizing, and supervising practices. Responsibilities include teaching fundamental skills, team strategy, and sportsmanship, ensuring participant eligibility, and acting as a positive role model for student athletes. The role also involves recommending equipment purchases and performing related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law, 64 semester hours.
Knowledge of fundamentals of various sports.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist in promoting sports in the school and community.
Assist the head coach in planning the athletic program.
Assist the head coach in organizing and supervising practices.
Assist the head coach in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
Assist the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self-control.
Assist in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
Conduct learning experiences, under the direction of the coaches, with small groups of student athletes.
Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.
Perform related duties as assigned.
