About The Position

The Middle School Assistant Wrestling Coach is responsible for instructing athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. This role also emphasizes instructing and demonstrating behaviors that foster socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in accomplishment. The coach must upgrade their knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations. The success of athletic programs significantly influences the community's image of the school system, and while community/parent pressure for winning performance can be taxing, it must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and good mental health. This position involves extended time, risk of injury, and due process considerations. The job description provides guidance, and in cases not specifically covered, coaches are expected to exercise common sense and good judgment.

Requirements

  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of wrestling.
  • Ability to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
  • Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Center Board of Education.
  • Knowledge of existing system, state, and league regulations.
  • Understanding of the proper administrative line of command.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor student athletes' grades and conduct.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant at practices, games, and while traveling.

  • Complete paperwork for all disabling athletic injuries within 24 hours.
  • Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians.

  • Assist athletes in college or advanced educational selection.
  • Participate in budgeting by establishing requirements for the next season.
