About The Position

School in the Square (S2) is seeking a dedicated, mission-aligned Middle School AIS/Intervention Math Teacher for grades 6-8. This role is based at our founding campus in Washington Heights, a bilingual, community-rooted model serving a predominantly Hispanic or Latinx population. The teacher will report to the Principal and collaborate with the School Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure high academic standards and focus on students' social-emotional needs. S2 believes in providing students with the tools and support to become lifelong learners in a challenging, high-quality, nurturing, and supportive environment.

Requirements

Skilled in current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.
Experience using the structures of balanced literacy (read aloud, shared reading, guided reading, independent reading) and SOR to support a diverse community of students in reading, writing and phonics instruction.
Experience with interactive, hands-on, creative learning.
Experience using technology to support instruction in all areas.
Experience using assessment to drive instruction.
Experience with differentiation of curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Knowledge of co-teaching strategies.
A strategic, solutions-focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills.
A strong relationship builder who gets personal fulfillment by teaching and coaching students.
Familiar with restorative practices.
A strong believer in anti-racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, trauma-informed practices.
Self-reflective with the capacity to accept and implement feedback to improve instruction.
A graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education program in a relevant content area.
Current possessor of a valid New York State Teaching Certification or willing to enroll in a New York State Teaching Certification Program and obtain such Certification within two years.
