About The Position

The Middle Market Banker I position is responsible for identifying, soliciting, developing, managing, servicing, retaining, and growing profitable middle market relationships within an assigned region. This involves offering a full range of loan, deposit, Capital Markets, Treasury, and Risk Management services to clients with annual sales between $75MM and $500MM. The role requires leveraging internal teams for optimal client experience and referring business and personal financial needs through the appropriate channels. Differentiation between levels (I-II) is based on banking experience, portfolio size, and leadership discretion. The role emphasizes leveraging the Truist Sales Process, Financial Insights, Industry & Advisory teams, and the Leadership Institute to deliver a superior client experience. It also involves developing and executing marketing plans to acquire new clients and expand existing relationships, focusing on revenue growth. Understanding and contributing to the credit decisioning process, including financial statement analysis, credit structuring, underwriting, policy knowledge, and risk mitigation, is crucial. Proactive client engagement to develop relationships and identify all business and personal financial needs, bringing in appropriate partners, is a key responsibility. The role champions non-credit financial services, driving fee-based revenue and serving the retail banking needs of clients' owners, management, and teammates. Maintaining proficiency in finance, managing complex corporate relationships, and possessing extensive knowledge of complex credit products and capital markets solutions are essential. Finally, executing on all risk, operational, policy, and quality expectations related to the assigned client portfolio is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training
  • Up to ten (10) years of experience in commercial banking
  • Strong interpersonal communications; can handle client relationships with borrowing clients with total debt of $10,000,000 or more
  • Highly skilled and proficient in most aspects of corporate finance, Capital Markets, Treasury, and other non-credit services
  • Ability to grasp complex credits clearly; is insightful in all aspects of finance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products

Responsibilities

  • Identify, solicit, develop, manage, service, retain and grow long-term profitable middle market relationships in assigned region by offering a full range of loan, deposit, Capital Markets, Treasury, Risk Management and other fee-based services to existing and prospective clients with $75MM to $500MM in annual sales.
  • Leverage the CCB Industry & Advisory teams as appropriate to create the optimal client experience.
  • Refer business and personal financial needs of assigned clients through the appropriate channel according to Integrated Relationship Management (IRM).
  • Leverage the Truist Sales Process, Financial Insights, Industry & Advisory team, and the Leadership Institute to consistently deliver a differentiated client experience in all client, prospect and center of influence (COI) interactions.
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan focused on winning new client relationships and expanding existing client relationships. Focus on driving continual improvement in portfolio revenue growth and new production revenue.
  • Understand and contribute to the credit decisioning process, including analysis and interpretation of financial statements, credit structuring, underwriting requirements, policy knowledge, risk identification and mitigation, all in accordance with the Truist credit risk appetite.
  • Proactively contact clients to fully develop middle market banking relationships by executing on Integrated Relationship Management (IRM) principles. Include the identification of all business and personal financial needs and bring in the appropriate partners to deliver Truist solutions.
  • Champion non-credit financial services activity in the middle market segment, driving fee-based revenue opportunities, including specific efforts to serve the retail banking needs of our clients' owners/management/teammates (e.g. Private Wealth Management, Truist@Work Financial Wellness, Momentum onUp, etc).
  • Maintain proficiency and a high level of expertise in most aspects of finance; manage large and complex corporate relationships. Maintain extensive knowledge about complex credit products and structuring, including loan syndications, participations, and other capital markets solutions.
  • Execute on all risk, operational, policy and quality expectations related to assigned client portfolio.
