About The Position

The Middle Grade Assistant Principal supports the Principal in leading the school’s academic and operational functions. This role includes instructional coaching, teacher development, student discipline, school operations, and fostering a positive school culture. The Assistant Principal collaborates with staff, students, and families to ensure high-quality instruction and a safe, supportive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
  • Valid state Tier 1 certification in Educational Leadership or Administration.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Strong instructional coaching and teacher development skills.
  • Knowledge of grades 6-8 curriculum, assessments, and data-driven instruction.
  • Ability to manage school operations and student discipline effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with technology integration and data analysis in education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional coaching and professional development to teachers to enhance instructional effectiveness.
  • Model and support the implementation of best teaching practices aligned with state standards and curriculum.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Analyze student data to drive instructional decisions and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement small-group and differentiated instruction.
  • Lead professional learning communities (PLCs) and facilitate data-driven discussions.
  • Support the development and implementation of rigorous academic programs that align with state and district standards.
  • Assist with curriculum planning, assessment development, and instructional pacing.
  • Oversee and support Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Monitor student progress and work with teachers to develop intervention strategies.
  • Ensure the effective use of instructional technology to enhance student learning.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.
  • Supervise daily school operations, including scheduling, transportation, and facility management.
  • Oversee student attendance, discipline, and behavior management systems.
  • Assist with staff recruitment, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Manage and support extracurricular activities, field trips, and school-wide events.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Foster a positive school climate that promotes student engagement and staff collaboration.
  • Support teachers in creating inclusive and culturally responsive classrooms.
  • Address student discipline issues, communicate with families, and implement restorative practices.
  • Work with counselors, special education teams, and support staff to address student needs.
  • Lead initiatives to improve student behavior, engagement, and social-emotional learning.
  • Communicate regularly with families to build positive relationships and encourage parental involvement.
  • Plan and lead school events, parent workshops, and community outreach programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school, district, and community organizations.
