About The Position

Navanti is accepting resumes for an anticipated, not-yet-funded security and stabilization project covering the Middle East. The Middle East Analyst will work with a multidisciplinary team and apply knowledge of the region’s politics, government, and social issues to gather and analyze information about the media environment, demographics, and security affairs. The analyst will collect information from open sources—including regional and other non-English news outlets, social media, blogs, academic literature, local contacts, and other sources—and produce analytical products.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Professional open-source analysis experience.
• Professional social network analysis experience.
• Professional media analysis experience.
• Professional quantitative analysis experience.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Professional fluency in Arabic (ILR 3 or higher).
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent (BA/BS) at minimum.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of work experience in the region.
• Strong working and/or academic knowledge of the Middle East and demonstrated enthusiasm for the subject matter.
• Knowledge of multiple countries in the region.
• Experience living in the region.
• Experience conducting media analysis and/or social media analysis.
• Experience with open data, such as OpenStreetMap.
• Quantitative analysis skills.
• Geospatial analysis skills.
• A master's degree in a related area of study.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Secret clearance.
• Exposure to a Levantine Arabic dialect.

Responsibilities

• Gather information relevant to the Middle East’s media environment, demographics, and security affairs.
• Collect information from open sources, including regional and non-English news outlets, social media, blogs, academic literature, and local contacts.
• Analyze collected information and write analytical products.
