About The Position

Midco Sports produces a wide array of live sporting events and syndicated sports programming, reaching thousands of fans across the region. Our team delivers high‑quality, professional broadcasts that connect viewers with their favorite teams and moments. We are seeking event‑based production crew members for the upcoming season. These roles are ideal for individuals who thrive in fast‑paced, live production environments and have a passion for sports broadcasting.

Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in advertising/ television production.
  • Three years’ experience directing television production.
  • Experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in live broadcast engineering or television production
  • Strong working knowledge of video and audio signal flow, routing, and system troubleshooting
  • Candidates should have specific training on Calrec or similar audio systems
  • One year experience with audio basics, intercoms, talk-backs and cabling preferred.
  • Three years’ Experience operating ENG, production or live sports broadcast cameras preferred.
  • One year experience operating a Chyron or similar graphics system and Photoshop software preferred.
  • Experience with spreadsheets and data preferred.
  • Some experience operating a scoring graphics system preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Grass Valley Dyno, Evertz Dream Catcher, EVS, 3Play or other replay systems preferred.
  • On-the-job-training provided by the Engineer.
  • On-the-job training provided by the Producer.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare statistics and information about the game in real-time. Also in charge of timing, spots and the look of the game broadcast.
  • Carries out the Producers vision for the game and manages camera shots, replays, and graphics to deliver a smooth, real-time broadcast.
  • Operates the video switcher and executes the director’s commands to ensure smooth transitions between cameras, graphics, and replays during a live sports broadcast.
  • Serves as the primary on-site technical support for live sports broadcasts on a per-event basis
  • Responsible for the setup, configuration, testing, and teardown of broadcast systems including video, audio, replay, intercom, and networking equipment
  • Ensures all technical systems are operational and broadcast-ready prior to event start
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues in real time to prevent or minimize on-air disruptions
  • Supports production crew members (Audio, Camera, Graphics, Replay, and Technical Director) with technical guidance and signal flow troubleshooting
  • Communicates clearly with the Producer and Director regarding technical limitations, system status, and solutions
  • Assists with load-in and strike as required and ensures equipment is handled safely and properly
  • Maintains awareness of best practices for live broadcast engineering and contributes to efficient workflows
  • Primary audio operator for the event. Also assists engineering team with setup.
  • Assistant to Audio 1, the primary audio operator. Participates in setup and troubleshooting technical issues during game.
  • Prepares replays during the game using various camera angles and communicates with the Director on source for playback. Also builds highlight melts and plays back other packages as needed.
  • Successfully operates video cameras to film live events and other subjects as required.
  • Shades cameras during live game and uses equipment to verify that the light levels and coloring meet specifications.
  • Creates team, statistics, and Midco Sports SN graphics using the Chyron system. Proof all graphics prior to sending to Technical Director.
  • Assists Chyron 1 by accurately providing accurate recent statistical information.
  • Operates the Scorebug with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure the score, timeouts, etc. are accurate.
  • Works closely with Producer and game officials to ensure breaks run on schedule.
  • Responsible for handling cables for the floor camera operators.
