This position involves performing first-level adjudication and determining eligibility for nominated personnel to access TS/SCI program information. The technician will utilize web-based databases such as Defense Information Security System (DISS) and SCATTERED CASTLES, along with other software tools, to make local determinations regarding clearance eligibility, need-to-know, and unit manning document validation for program access. Key duties include coordinating SCI eligibility with higher headquarters, conducting various security briefings (indoctrination, foreign travel, program debriefing), and managing program personnel data within the Defense Information Security System. The role also entails maintaining electronic security records, ensuring strict confidentiality, creating and managing unique SCI Program Access badges, providing training to subordinate SCI security assistants, and liaising with higher headquarters to stay current with standards and regulations. Additionally, the technician will handle SCI visit requests, both incoming and outgoing, and perform weekend duties to support local reserve units.
