About The Position

The Boeing Company's Defense, Space & Security division is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineering Manager to lead employees supporting multiple U.S. Space Force programs. This role focuses on providing engineering leadership for the technical execution of the Space Superiority - Red LAN program in Colorado Springs, CO. The Red LAN program is crucial for the United States Space Force's Space Surveillance Network, delivering vital Space Domain Awareness (SDA) data. The manager will lead a team in identifying inefficiencies, developing solutions, and implementing process improvements to enhance productivity and quality. Responsibilities include team building, personal development, program technical execution, systems engineering, ground system operations & sustainment, and product development. This is a classified Space Force mission program critical to national defense. The position reports to the Red LAN senior Engineering Manager and is part of a team working on key U.S. Government proprietary space programs in Space Superiority. Red LAN is a US Space Force operational asset located at Schriever SFB (SSFB), with Boeing providing operational and sustainment support from its program depot. Routine local travel to SSFB is required to interface with Space Force customers and the Boeing team.

Requirements

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
5 years or more of experience with systems engineering or project management
5 years or more of experience with Department of War Programs
3 years or more of experience with ground systems engineering and sustainment
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance with a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed by the federal government within the last 5 years or in a Continuous Evaluation/Continuous Vetting program for the T5.
Ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only
Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

Serves as Deputy Engineering Manager for the Red LAN program supporting the technical execution of Red LAN program requirements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Performs management duties supporting an engineering/technical team executing on a series of programs in the area of Space Superiority
Develops and presents program status reports
Manages priorities and improves processes in a small team environment
Fills program positions (hires) and assigns program personnel duties & responsibilities
Co-Chair; Internal Readiness Review Board (IRRB), Design Reviews, Program Reviews, etc.
Supports 24/7 technical response for anomaly resolution
Assure products and processes meet safety and quality expectations
Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures
Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
Manages, develops and motivates employees
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
Travel up to 10% to other sites as necessary
