About The Position

This position is responsible for providing psychiatric and mental health care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, and treating patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. The role involves educating patients on mental health management, coping strategies, and preventive care to enhance their psychological well-being. The practitioner will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to form an efficient mental health care team, ensuring all duties are performed in compliance with clinic policies, federal, state, and local regulations. Key responsibilities include maintaining patient confidentiality, accurate and up-to-date medical records, and demonstrating knowledge of E&M coding guidelines. The role also involves utilizing leadership and professional development skills to ensure quality patient care, potentially precepting clinical staff, and meeting productivity standards. The position requires regular and punctual attendance, the ability to handle prolonged standing, walking, sitting, and stressful situations, and the physical capacity to lift at least 60lbs, reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel. Adherence to personal protective equipment guidelines for potential exposure to infectious materials is also required. The practitioner will perform other related clinical, administrative, or special tasks as required and may accept additional responsibilities and participate in assigned activities and committees.

Requirements

  • Master's in Nurse Practitioner (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Graduate of an accredited school or program for Nurse Practitioner.
  • Nurse Practitioner must have a Masters Degree and prescriptive authority.
  • Must have an Oklahoma License and Certification appropriate to field of study.
  • National certification appropriate to credential
  • Current Oklahoma NP License
  • Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain before beginning work

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric and mental health care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, and treating patients.
  • Educate patients on mental health management, coping strategies, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, clinical staff, and nonclinical staff.
  • Perform all duties and functions in strict compliance with the clinic's policy and procedures, and all applicable federal, state, local, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance by support staff.
  • Adhere to ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
  • Maintain accurate records which are confidential, up to date, legible and ensure that all given care is documented.
  • Exhibit knowledge of evaluation and management (E&M) coding guidelines and demonstrate appropriate application of those guidelines as evidenced by correct E&M coding.
  • Utilize leadership and professional development skills to assure quality patient care and medical practice.
  • Act as a role model and, in selected situations, precept clinical staff and other advanced practice health care professionals.
  • Adhere to University Health Services productivity standards and meet at least the minimum requirement of key performance indicators (KPIs) as determined by leadership annually.
  • Demonstrate a regular and punctual attendance pattern.
  • Perform all other related clinical tasks, administrative tasks, or special tasks as required.
  • Readily accept other responsibilities and participate in other activities and committees as assigned.
