About The Position

The Mid-Level Network/Boundary Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will implement, and maintain network and network/perimeter infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network devices. They will configure and troubleshoot network routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and configure and maintain firewall infrastructure. The role involves monitoring network performance and identifying areas for improvement at the network edge, troubleshooting network issues and providing timely resolution related to perimeter devices, and implementing and maintaining network and network security policies and procedures. The engineer will ensure network compliance with industry standards and regulations, document network configurations and procedures, and collaborate with Team Leads, Project Managers, Network Engineers, and Network Architects to coordinate routine maintenance, break/fix repair, and planned changes. This includes coordinating any downtime with all appropriate leadership and stakeholders. Additionally, the role requires performing end-user support to internal teammates and tenants/performers, including Layer 1-4 troubleshooting and physical fault isolation cabling. The successful candidate will also generate network design guidance in coordination with architects, SMEs, and system engineers, and update documentation (network diagrams, rack diagrams, etc.) utilizing approved work vehicles and the change management process. They will also perform hardening and STIG checklist validation/verification for associated network infrastructure and virtual machines.

Requirements

  • 4, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience (May be reduced with completion of advanced education)
  • 2, or more, years of direct experience working as a Network or Boundary Engineer.
  • 6, or more, months of management experience
  • Experience with hybrid (virtual and non-virtual) computing network requirements, design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Experience with configuring, installing, testing, or troubleshooting of IT network systems primarily consisting of Cisco based LAN/WANs.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to CONUS locations
  • Must have, and maintain, a current IAT Level 2 or higher certification
  • Must have, or obtain, an active DoW Secret Security Clearance
  • Be able to effectively communicate with customers and other team members, both orally and in writing

Nice To Haves

  • CCNA/CCNP certification
  • Experience working with NSA COMSEC devices and INE/HAIPE cryptographic equipment
  • Familiarity with/history of developing DODAF-compliant diagrams and documentation
