Mid-Level Full Stack Java Developer
About The Position
The Mid-Level Full Stack Java Developer designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software in an Agile environment. The developer joins an Agile team creating and supporting applications for a high-impact Federal homeland security program. The work spans front-end interfaces and back-end services, including integrations with APIs, cloud platforms, and complex data systems. The position may be filled at the Entry, Mid, Senior, or SME level based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Candidates must reside in a state where the company is registered to employ team members; the requirements also specify residence in the DC, MD, or VA area. U.S. citizenship is required, and the candidate must be able to obtain CBP Public Trust clearance. The salary range is $75,000–$155,000 annually, with final compensation based on level alignment, experience, education, and internal equity. The role is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, which may include medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and other supplemental programs.
Requirements
- Must live within the DC, MD, or VA area and reside in a U.S. state where the company is currently registered to employ team members.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain CBP Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree plus at least 5 years of work experience.
- At least 4 years of experience developing Java applications and associated frameworks.
- At least 4 years of development experience using JavaScript and/or JavaScript frameworks such as Angular.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a story-based Agile team development environment using JIRA or a similar tool.
- Strong database skills.
- Experience consuming and creating REST and/or SOAP-based APIs.
- Experience working with JavaScript, HTML5, and/or jQuery.
- Cloud experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Full stack development using the Spring Framework.
- Automated testing with Selenium, JUnit, Cucumber, or similar tools.
- Build automation with Gradle or Maven.
- DevOps and Continuous Delivery tools such as Harness and Jenkins.
- Experience with AWS.
- Experience using generative AI code-assist technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement software applications using JavaScript.
- Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to integrate APIs and enhance system performance.
- Write clean, maintainable code and conduct thorough testing to ensure software reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Document software specifications, design processes, and user guides for future reference.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
- Support back-end services and mission-critical business logic using Java and related frameworks.
- Develop and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance applications.
