About The Position

As a Microsoft Consultant Data Engineering, you will help clients design, build, and further develop modern data platforms in the cloud. You will work in small, multidisciplinary teams on end-to-end data solutions, combining in-depth technical expertise with an advisory role towards stakeholders. You will translate business needs into robust, scalable architectures and take the lead in technical decision-making, quality assurance, and standards within projects. You will work hands-on and act as a substantive sparring partner for clients and colleagues.

Requirements

• Completed master's degree in fields such as Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a comparable technical or analytical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, with demonstrable end-to-end responsibility for designing and realizing data platforms and complex ETL/ELT processes.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Python, distributed processing (such as Spark), orchestration tooling, and demonstrable experience with performance optimization and data quality.
• In-depth experience with Azure data services (Data Factory, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric) and/or Snowflake.
• Extensive experience with dimensional modeling, Data Vault (or similar techniques), and layered data architectures.
• Experience in a consultancy or advisory role, with the ability to clearly translate technical solutions into business value.
• Professional communication skills in both Dutch and English.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant cloud or data certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and realize future-proof data platforms based on modern cloud architectures, particularly within Azure (including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Data Factory) and/or Snowflake.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using (T-)SQL, Python, Databricks/Spark, and orchestration tooling. Utilize our own framework, the Smart Data Accelerator (SDA), and where appropriate, tools like DBT or TimeXtender.
• Apply dimensional modeling and Data Vault (or similar models) and set up layered data architectures, such as the Medallion architecture.
• Ensure quality by setting up DevOps practices, CI/CD processes, testing, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Translate technical choices into understandable impact for the business, advise clients on architecture and roadmap decisions, and guide them in implementing data platforms.
• As a senior, coach medior and junior consultants, contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices, and actively help develop our data and AI propositions.
