About The Position

Eurofins EAG Laboratories is seeking an experienced TEM Scientist to join its Advanced Microscopy team. This production-focused role uses Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) to address materials and semiconductor challenges for clients across a range of industries. The scientist will operate advanced TEM instrumentation, analyze materials, and deliver accurate, timely, site-specific results that support client decisions. The role involves operating TEM tools to collect TEM/STEM images and SAED, EDS, and EELS data; developing TEM analysis protocols and techniques to meet client requests; and preparing summary reports that describe project objectives, analysis data, and interpretation of results. The scientist will also engage with customers to address their questions and concerns. The work schedule is 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., either Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday. A 10% shift differential applies. Lab locations are Milpitas or Sunnyvale, California. Compensation is $120,000–$135,000 per year, aligned with regional market standards and tailored to qualifications and experience.

  • Ability to independently operate TEM/STEM instrumentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAED).
  • Hands-on experience acquiring, processing, and interpreting EDS (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy) and EELS (Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy) data.
  • Experience with the 4D-STEM technique.
  • Demonstrated understanding of TEM operating principles.
  • Experience developing TEM-specific analysis protocols and techniques.
  • Experience producing reports that interpret TEM results.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FEI/Thermo Fisher and/or JEOL instruments.
  • Preferred experience with semiconductor chips and wafer samples.
