About The Position

Seeking a Senior Applications Engineer with deep technical expertise in IC design and characterization and strong technical communication skills to support customer engagements and develop comprehensive product documentation. The role serves as a technical bridge between design teams, customers, and business development organizations. The position creates product specifications, characterization data, datasheets, application notes, design guides, and reference designs; supports customers and internal teams with IC integration, troubleshooting, presentations, and training; analyzes silicon measurement data and supports characterization, validation, and failure analysis; and collaborates with product marketing, IC design, test engineering, and sales on product definition and customer engagements. This is a remote position with collaboration across engineering, marketing, and sales. Occasional travel to customer sites or industry conferences (10–20%) may be required. The role is office-based with occasional lab work for IC characterization and testing. Security clearance may be required for certain programs. U.S. citizenship is required due to ITAR restrictions on technical data.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in IC applications engineering, design engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record developing technical datasheets and application documentation.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into customer-facing content.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills and ability to create clear, accurate, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Experience with documentation tools and version control systems.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Experience with semiconductor device physics, CMOS technology, and circuit operation.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard communication interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, and SerDes.
  • Knowledge of IC packaging, thermal management, and power delivery considerations.
  • Proficiency interpreting and analyzing electrical test data and characterization results.
  • Strong presentation skills for technical and business audiences.
  • Strong understanding of digital and/or analog IC design principles.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to ITAR restrictions on technical data.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance may be required for certain programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Background in system-level design or board-level integration.
  • Experience supporting government or military programs.
  • Experience with high-reliability or radiation-hardened IC technologies.
  • Familiarity with ITAR regulations and defense/aerospace industry requirements.
  • Knowledge of EDA tools and design flows such as Synopsys, Cadence, or Mentor.
  • Understanding of ASIC development processes and foundry technologies such as GlobalFoundries, Intel, or TSMC.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed technical specifications, characterization data, and application guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain product datasheets for ASIC and standard product offerings.
  • Document electrical characteristics, timing diagrams, functional descriptions, and package information.
  • Ensure technical documentation meets industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Produce application notes, design guides, and reference designs.
  • Conduct design reviews and advise on IC integration and system-level implementation.
  • Deliver technical presentations and training to customers and field application engineers.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to customers and internal teams.
