About The Position

Bausch + Lomb is a global eye health company focused on protecting and enhancing sight. This role involves executing microbiological testing to support various operations, including environmental monitoring, media preparation, sterility testing, and microbial identification. The technician will conduct tests for in-process and finished products, as well as raw materials, using aseptic techniques and ensuring compliance with all applicable procedures and regulations such as USP, ISO, and GMP.

Requirements

  • BS in Biology, Microbiology or related life science
  • Previous experience in aseptic manufacturing operations and aseptic laboratory practices highly preferred.
  • Math skills including metric conversions and ratios.
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, and other customized systems).
  • Knowledge of basic cGMP and good documentation practices.
  • Technical and scientific writing skills.
  • Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Execute microbiological testing for Environmental/Water/Bioburden monitoring, Media and lab supplies preparation, Sterility Testing and Microbial Identification.
  • Conduct tests for in-process and finished products as well as raw materials using aseptic techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with local and global SOPs, product test procedures, safety, USP, ISO, GMP, and applicable governmental regulations.
  • Support Manufacturing operations through Environmental Monitoring, including surface testing, employee gowning monitoring, viable air monitoring, and air total particle counts.
  • Prepare culture media and supplies needed for test execution, sterilize supplies, and autoclave as required.
  • Maintain the microbiology lab inventory.
  • Perform Growth Promotion Testing and Sterility Verification.
  • Execute testing of Water, Disinfectants, and Pre-Sterilized Products in a Laminar Flow Hood using aseptic technique.
  • Execute and document final reading of all microbiological testing, including plates and liquid media.
  • Perform finished product testing for Particulate Matter in a Laminar Flow Hood and accurately document the data.
  • Perform testing of Biological Indicators aseptically in a Laminar Flow Hood to support validation and production.
  • Load Sterility isolators with appropriate supplies and test samples, and execute the VHP cycle.
  • Perform Sterility Testing of finished product in an isolator.
  • Properly receive ordered media and other testing supplies and document appropriately.
  • Review Microbiology data in a timely manner to ensure compliance to procedures, accuracy of data, and adherence to good documentation practices.
