About The Position

This full-time opportunity is in the Microbiology Department of Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) in Austin, Texas. We are seeking an entry-level team member to work on first shift (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and is available to work weekends. Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or higher in a chemical, biological, or medical science.
  • Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies, with enthusiasm for continuous professional development.
  • Proficiency in operating general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience in microbiology.
  • Clinical laboratory training or experience in moderate to high-complexity testing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderate to high-complexity microbiology testing on clinical specimens such as urine, blood, sputum, wounds, and body fluids.
  • Analyze, review, and report microbiology test results, ensuring timely communication of critical findings.
  • Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment handling biological and chemical hazards.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot issues or unexpected results, implementing corrective actions effectively.
  • Identify when corrective action is necessary and implement effective solutions.
  • Promote safety, compliance, and quality control within the lab.
