About The Position

The Laboratory at Baptist Health Louisville serves as the core laboratory for the Baptist Health system, conducting tests for both inpatients and outpatients. This is a fast-paced, busy, and automated laboratory capable of performing a comprehensive range of tests while ensuring quick turnaround times for patients. The Med Techs in the laboratory perform testing across various disciplines including chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in a busy laboratory environment and are eager to learn and advance in their field. The core laboratory division specifically handles testing for chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. The position requires meticulous attention to detail to uphold patient safety standards. Med Techs utilize both manual and automated equipment for specimen preparation and analytical testing. Strong critical thinking skills are essential for identifying and resolving problems that necessitate further troubleshooting or analysis. Core Laboratory Med Techs may also have opportunities for cross-training in other laboratory areas.

Requirements

Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent
Must become certified within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

Previous work experience in high complexity testing preferred

Responsibilities

Perform testing in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology
Perform testing for chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis in the core laboratory division
Ensure patient safety through strong attention to detail
Use manual and automated equipment to prepare specimens and perform analytical tests
