About The Position

The Microbiology Lead Medical Laboratory Technologist works in Microbiology under the supervision of the laboratory administrator and supervisor. The role performs a variety of complex and routine laboratory tests while complying with safety and regulatory requirements. The technologist assists with testing and implementation of new tests and procedures, manages investigations and deviations, and communicates results to management. The position also supports and trains Microbiology staff and participates in interdepartmental collaboration. Weekend and holiday rotation is required based on departmental needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or master’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an approved program.
• Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department.
• Four years of relevant laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine laboratory tests in Microbiology.
