About The Position

As a Microbiologist, Co-op, you’ll work with cross-functional teams to help ensure our medical devices are safe and effective for patients. You’ll get hands-on experience supporting sterilization processes (like Ethylene Oxide (EO), gamma, and steam) and help execute biological safety testing plans. You’ll be responsible for managing and monitoring sterility testing and supporting our Product Engineering team in assessing microbiological impact to product changes to ensure patient safety. This is a dynamic and collaborative role that will allow you to gain industry experience in microbiology, regulatory science, Quality Assurance, and medical device development. You’ll be part of a team that values curiosity, problem-solving, and collaboration. Your contributions will help ensure the safety, sterility, biocompatibility, and regulatory compliance of both new and existing products, while also driving process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Currently working toward or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Must be permanent resident of Canada or Canadian Citizen.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills, able to balance multiple priorities
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of sterilization methods (EO, gamma, steam) and applicable standards (ISO 11135, ISO 11137 & ISO 17665)
  • Knowledge of biological safety evaluation principles and applicable industry standards (ISO 10993 series, ISO 14971)
  • Proficient in basic computer programs: Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
