About The Position

BASIC PURPOSE Maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using industrial cleaning equipment and machines while ensuring all protective functions are utilized MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education and/or Experience High School Diploma/GED/ Technical/or equivalent on the job training and experience FUNCTIONAL SCOPE Budget Oversight, if applicable: Employees Supervised, if applicable: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Position responsibilities include: Follow all safety procedures, including the wearing of all required personal protective equipment. Maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using industrial cleaning equipment and machines while ensuring all protective functions are utilized. General custodial labor. Clean manufacturing areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, machines, etc.). Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects. Ability to handle equipment and machinery. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets. Propose improvements and participate in problem solving using the Safety Corner Board, Continuous Improvement Suggestions, and participating in monthly Communication and Awareness initiatives. Keep area clean and orderly, per 5S requirements, this includes aisle ways and areas around the equipment being used. Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by Supervisor. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the Tooling and Facilities Manager. Maintains regular interface with all levels of Plant Management and personnel in Ithaca. BACK-UP In absence of an incumbent in this position, the back-up for primary duties is responsibility of the direct reports in each functional area. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned among other qualified employees, depending upon business priorities. COMPETENCIES Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as general addition, subtraction, multiply and divide. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Qualification Requirements Possess the ability to follow directions from and communicate with supervisors, technicians and co-workers in a professional manner. Strong hand eye coordination and attention to detail Ability to comprehend and train to documents such as work instructions, safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in the English language. Ability to work effectively as a team member with co-workers. Exhibit a high degree of responsibility with an emphasis on quality and safety. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively.
