We look forward to meeting you. The Role Shipboard Fire Safety Watch Manager to include the administration, execution, and compliance with the shipboard fire safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or the required certification and 6 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • The required certifications must be Lead Test Engineer (LTE), Shift Test Engineer (STE), Ship Safety Officer (SSO).
  • Inactivation Test Engineer (ITE) certification, or Shift Refueling Engineer (SRE) or ability to achieve certification within 1 year.

Nice To Haves

  • Military Candidates E-6 or above
  • Fire Marshall Qualified.
  • NNS ELT or above.
  • In depth knowledge of the S0570-AC-CCM-010/8010 series manual to include the administration, execution, and compliance with the shipboard fire safety.
  • Must be able to be the NSA primary point of contact for all shipboard fire safety matters.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee the shipboard fire safety surveillance program.
  • Evaluate trends of audits and surveillances.
  • Participate in fire safety program related critiques and provide concurrence on corrective actions for shipboard fire safety program violations.
  • Maintain the qualification program, including the administration of tests, oral boards, or both for FSOs and NSA FSW candidates, and maintenance of qualification record objective quality evidence.
  • Qualify as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
