Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or the required certification and 6 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
The required certifications must be Lead Test Engineer (LTE), Shift Test Engineer (STE), Ship Safety Officer (SSO).
Inactivation Test Engineer (ITE) certification, or Shift Refueling Engineer (SRE) or ability to achieve certification within 1 year.

Nice To Haves

Military Candidates E-6 or above
Fire Marshall Qualified.
NNS ELT or above.
In depth knowledge of the S0570-AC-CCM-010/8010 series manual to include the administration, execution, and compliance with the shipboard fire safety.
Must be able to be the NSA primary point of contact for all shipboard fire safety matters.

Responsibilities

Establish and oversee the shipboard fire safety surveillance program.
Evaluate trends of audits and surveillances.
Participate in fire safety program related critiques and provide concurrence on corrective actions for shipboard fire safety program violations.
Maintain the qualification program, including the administration of tests, oral boards, or both for FSOs and NSA FSW candidates, and maintenance of qualification record objective quality evidence.
Qualify as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
