Requirements

  • Knowledge of business administration and project management.
  • Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution systems and assets.
  • Knowledge of information technology and systems associated with project management activities.
  • Strong communication skills for leading teams, negotiating with stakeholders, and reporting project status.
  • Relevant experience in information management systems and business process redesign.
  • Experience in consulting, project management, and facilitation services through all phases of systems project life cycles (needs assessment, business case development, approval, implementation, transition to operational status).
  • Familiarity with the practices and procedures of the department, organization structure, and operation/service requirements of client groups.
  • Ability to manage multiple work programs and effectively lead and facilitate teams consistent with continuous quality improvement goals.
  • Experience analyzing project finances, identifying trends, mitigating risks, and taking action to maintain project and portfolio performance.
  • Experience reporting project and portfolio performance to senior management.
  • Experience in handling complaints and dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Experience in the supervision of staff.
  • Experience in promoting and developing a teamwork environment with staff and peers.
  • Experience in carrying out administrative responsibilities associated with monitoring, coordinating, and controlling staff work activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff engaged in the delivery of the capital work program, including work performed by internal forces, contractors, and customer projects.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, and assign work to ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness within Project Management bounds.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and direction to staff for resolving work-related problems and setting clear expectations and performance measures.
  • Provide leadership through demonstration and response to staff requirements to achieve targets, plans, strategies, and quality objectives.
  • Make effective recommendations on human resource issues, including career counseling, promotions, transfers, pay, hiring, and disciplinary action.
  • Coordinate support program needs for various projects and programs, identifying key customers and stakeholders.
  • Manage and perform the full life cycle of work support programs, resolving issues of performance, scheduling, and control.
  • Define objectives, perform tasks, and produce deliverables critical to project support and success, and in the development and implementation of contractual agreements.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, strategies, and integrated plans for Project Management and other LOBs.
  • Report regularly on the status of the work program.
  • Maintain a team of subordinates capable of producing required outputs.
  • Ensure subordinates are able and willing to produce desired output, and that subordinate managers continually improve processes.
  • Assess staff capability for current and future work requirements.
  • Conduct personal effectiveness reviews of subordinates to build relationships, trust, and improve effectiveness.
  • Mentor and counsel subordinates.
  • Set an effective framework of policies and procedures for the unit's work.
  • Ensure own and subordinates' compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures, and generally accepted practices.
  • Establish a two-way working relationship with subordinates to solicit their views on conditions, potential changes, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Ensure projects are executed in a safe and consistent manner via the capital projects process.
  • Lead a team to contribute to the successful execution of the work program by delivering projects per approved scope, cost, and schedule.
