About The Position

The Material Planning Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all material planning activities for pipe fabrication and industrial construction projects. This role oversees material requirements planning (MRP), inventory control, material forecasting, and project material coordination to ensure production schedules, project milestones, and customer requirements are achieved efficiently and cost-effectively. The Material Planning Manager serves as a key liaison between engineering, procurement, operations, project management, and site materials teams proactively identify and resolve material-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong understanding of material requirements planning (MRP), inventory control, and supply chain processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead issue resolution efforts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage change effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Construction Management, Logistics, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the material requirements planning (MRP) process for pipe fabrication and industrial projects.
  • Perform material take-offs from isometric drawings and develop project bill of materials (BOM).
  • Evaluate supply versus demand to support production schedules and project priorities.
  • Generate purchase requisitions and coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Monitor inventory levels, schedule changes, material shortages, and order cancellations to minimize project disruptions.
  • Facilitate resolution of material discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Identify material substitution opportunities and coordinate technical approvals when required.
  • Ensure all materials comply with project specifications, quality standards, and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, production, warehouse, and site materials teams to support fabrication and construction activities.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material planning, inventory management, and project deliverables.
  • Maintain material tracking systems and support change management throughout the life of the project.
  • Proactively communicate material risks, constraints, and recovery plans to project teams and leadership.
  • Develop and improve material planning procedures, workflows, and best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory optimization, planning efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
