About The Position

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 12 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
• Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• Previous leadership experience.
• Proven track record of delivering projects and programs.
• Leadership and management skills, with experience managing project managers and teams.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret data and inform decisions.
• Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall project management methodologies.
• The applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Nice To Haves

• Masters degree.
• IT Service management, product management, hybrid project management methodologies, SDLC, Agile and ITIL certification, ServiceNow SPM.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Project Managers responsible for delivery of sector-specific IT programs and projects.
• Drive consistent, high-quality execution across multiple concurrent initiatives within an assigned delivery area.
• Build and mature project managers through targeted coaching, mentorship, and development in execution excellence and leadership.
• Monitor delivery health across projects, including progress, risks, dependencies, issues, and execution constraints, and intervene as needed to improve outcomes.
• Partner with business, technology, and PMO stakeholders to resolve delivery challenges and maintain forward momentum across initiatives.
• Coach team members across IT to drive execution across multiple concurrent initiatives, managing dependencies, risks, and delivery milestones.
• Ensure sector IT projects and initiatives align with enterprise standards, best practices, and IT strategies, leveraging BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) LifeCycle Management frameworks.
• Ensure project managers apply consistent project lifecycle, governance, reporting, and delivery management practices.
• Support adoption of PMO tools, standards, and best practices to improve consistency and execution quality.
• Promote a culture of ownership, transparency, and results-driven performance across sector IT delivery teams.
• Contribute delivery insight and operational perspective to broader portfolio and PMO discussions as needed.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.
• Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
