About The Position

This position will directly support Ford Class Carrier waterfront trade activities and the candidate should be comfortable operating in both an office and field environment. The candidate should be well versed in shipyard operations, have previous experience in preservation requirements/processes across all programs (to include both Carriers and Submarines), obtained preservation qualifications/training (NBPI, AMPP, NNS Trades' Training) and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Preservation requirements include and are not limited to surface preparation/coatings/SHT process knowledge, experience with coating inspections/records/process documentation, possess a coatings certification and have an understanding of industrial ventilation equipment and psychrometric theory. Effective communication is required across a range of audiences from craft workers to program leadership. Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customers organization.

Requirements

  • Apprentice Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • 6 years applicable, progressive technical, professional and/or supervisory work experience.
  • Thorough understanding of construction, manufacturing processes, and operations.
  • Comfortable operating in both an office and field environment.
  • Well versed in shipyard operations.
  • Previous experience in preservation requirements/processes across all programs (to include both Carriers and Submarines).
  • Obtained preservation qualifications/training (NBPI, AMPP, NNS Trades' Training).
