About The Position

Oversee personnel activities of NNS Washington Technical Office (WTO). Supervisor over 10 direct reports, monitor department administrative costs, and foster engagement. Oversee WTO physical facility being a good steward of allocated funds. Serve as adjutant arm of the Chief Engineer's Office. Bring WTO personnel to bear on emergent issues as needed by the Chief Engineer and his deputies with respect to significant quality and technical investigations, technical development of divisional technical staff, and support ship deliveries. Engage with government, industry and academic leaders as well as key company personnel for new technologies, development areas and emergent issues. Mentor key personnel and recruit additional talent. Foster culture of technical excellence in modeling, simulation, shipboard integration and test, regardless of platform or system. Support and grow the SSN(X) program including engagement with NNS and government personnel about shipyard capabilities, technologies, and program plans. Expand the WTO technical and facility capabilities to support the growing SSN(X) program and associated classified computing. Become an integral part of structural, signatures, and survivability engineering trajectory. Stay abreast of technical development efforts contributing to shipyard activities for both HII Shipyards. Location for this position will be at the WTO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
  • Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
  • PhD and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
