About The Position

This role involves following established procedures for chemical and physical material processing and development. The operator will adjust, regulate, control, and operate various standard and specialized processes and associated equipment. Responsibilities include using measuring and recording devices to track data and maintaining detailed records of inventory and process quantities. Extensive training, examination, and certification are required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and execute oral and written job instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, work instructions, facility postings, Safety Datasheets, equipment postings, and work permits for hazardous materials/conditions.
  • Ability to read scales and gauges and perform valve manipulations/alignments.
  • Ability to understand pressures and filtration.
  • Knowledge of fundamental chemical principles (e.g., understanding of pH measurements/values).
  • Ability to operate, test, and inspect chemical process equipment within the bounds of written procedures and on-the-job training.
  • Ability to understand and perform basic mathematical calculations, including Standard and Metric conversions.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and perform calculations involved in measuring, weighing, and other operations.
  • Understanding of and ability to comply with Conduct of Operations.
  • Ability to follow regulations related to security, health and safety, and the environment.
  • Ability to work safely around hazardous chemicals and contamination by recognizing hazards and working within specifically defined requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.
