About The Position

This hourly, non-exempt position performs repetitive line assembly to mass-produce automotive steering columns and/or sub-assemblies according to written and/or verbal specifications. The technician works in-line or in areas where tasks vary as parts move along the line, assembling specific parts and passing units to another Team Member. Work stations or processes may change as production needs require to maintain line efficiency and reduce fatigue.

Responsibilities

• Assemble automotive steering columns and/or sub-assemblies according to written and/or verbal specifications.
• Work in-line or in areas where tasks vary as parts move along the production line, assembling specific parts and passing units to another Team Member.
• Work at different stations or shift between processes as production needs require to maintain line efficiency and reduce fatigue.
• Load and unload previously set up machines and equipment to perform fastening, force fitting, welding, piercing, machining, or metalworking operations.
• Perform product quality checks and record results according to quality system documents.
• Perform process changeovers.
• Set up equipment.
• Perform assigned housekeeping and preventative maintenance.
• Examine materials or products for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
