About The Position

The Metrology Technician is responsible for regularly scheduled calibration and maintenance of all laboratory equipment in accordance with SOPs, documentation of the work in logs and notebooks, updating equipment lists, and reporting on these activities. Receives direction and priorities from Metrology Supervisor or Manager. Calibrates and maintains assigned laboratory equipment in laboratories. Acts as an escort for the approved vendor performing required external calibration. Updates the calibration schedule and equipment lists as work is performed. Monitors, calibrates and maintains assigned equipment (e.g., freezers, refrigerators, pipettes, balances, water system, thermometers, weights, ovens, temperature and humidity monitors, REES Environmental system). Reviews calibration notebooks per applicable SOPs/procedures. May participate in client or regulatory audits with the Quality Assurance department. May be on call for the REES Environmental system. May participate in client and regulatory audits/tours by providing metrology-related documentation. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of lab or systems experience in a bioanalytical lab with at least 1-2 years of systems validation and/or calibration experience
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Have the ability and desire to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Sense of urgency in performance of duties
  • Interpersonal skills that promote a collaborative and productive lab environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with freezers, balances, plate washers and readers (these two can be trained) and other similar lab experience highly preferred
