About The Position

Catalent, Inc. is a leading global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), and Catalent’s San Diego facility focuses on early-stage development of small molecule and peptide drug candidates from the bench to the clinic. This facility offers an array of services that support oral and injectable dosage forms that include preformulation testing, formulation and analytical development, cGMP manufacturing and clinical packaging, labeling, and worldwide distribution. Our San Diego location is the home of our Catalent Spray Drying technologies with downstream roller compaction capabilities to support the needs of our client’s most challenging compounds. Catalent offers students a fun and stimulating environment to gain experience and exposure to pharmaceutical development. The Metrology Intern will be required to assist in the oversight and maintenance of applicable electrical, dimensional, optical, physical, mechanical, environment, and/or chemical test equipment in the laboratory. They will assist in the maintenance, calibration, verification, and/or qualification of laboratory and quality systems. To be considered for this San Diego-based internship, you must be able to work on-site weekly as it is a long-term year-round position. Requirements

  • Must currently be a full time Physical Science (Chemistry, Biology, or applicable) or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or applicable) student currently enrolled (ideally in second or third year)
  • Completion of college level science lab, (basic laboratory knowledge) and familiarity with basic lab equipment
  • Candidates should be highly self-motivated, organized, and able to work as part of a team
  • Availability to work 15-20 hours per week on-site during the hours of 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday (no exceptions)

Responsibilities

  • Assistance with troubleshooting, repair, and observation of qualification for critical laboratory equipment (including but not limited to HPLC/UPLC, GC dissolution baths, UV/ Vis spectrophotometers, Karl Fischer titrators, balances, stability chambers, etc.)
  • Effective communication to laboratory staff regarding equipment status and availability when equipment troubleshooting and repair requires it
  • Assist with oversight of equipment spare parts stocks, visits by service technicians for repairs, and interdepartmental logistics
  • Observe generation of and assist with review for IQ/OQ/PQ data packages, protocols and reports
  • Assist with creating/revising procedures, forms, or other documents related to laboratory equipment
  • Other duties as assigned.
