About The Position

The Metrology Inspection Specialist is responsible for performing quality inspections across all stages of productions from incoming materials through fabrication, assembly, and final shipment. This position is part of the EHSQ team within Corporate Services, ensuring independence from production and eliminating conflicts of interest, while working in close partnership with Operations and Engineering.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience preferred.
  • Understanding of GD&T Y14.5 and its application.
  • Strong understanding of Cartesian Coordinate Systems (X,Y,Z)
  • Experience utilizing metrology equipment such as CMMs, Visions Systems, Scanners.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively internally and externally with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values.
  • Pass a post-offer background verification.

Nice To Haves

  • Zeiss Calypso, OGP Zone3, Zeiss GOM software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect machined/fabricated/3D printed/welded parts
  • Interpret and verify against engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Inspect and verify conformance of visual requirements, dimensions, surface finishes, mechanical tolerances, and electrical functionality using tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and metrology equipment.
  • Program and operate Metrology equipment such as CMM’s, Vision Systems (OMMs) and Scanners to perform dimensional inspections for FAIs, in-process and final inspections.
  • Work closely with the machine shop to verify and improve products in production.
  • Perform necessary preventative maintenance and maintain calibration of Metrology equipment.
  • Interpret and verify against engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Execute final inspections of completed assemblies to ensure readiness for shipment and compliance with project requirements.
  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately in both written and digital formats.
  • Identify, document, and escalate non-conformances to the appropriate teams in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with engineering, assembly, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and suggest procedural improvements.
  • Utilize QCBD for input and tracking of quality issues.
  • Assist with tool calibration events.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of inspection procedures and quality standards.
  • Follows all safe work practices & safety rules.
  • Communicates recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
