About The Position

The Metrology Engineer will be responsible for providing quality assurance support for manufacturing. This position is responsible for the definition, implementation, and improvement of quality related practices and will provide technical guidance and measurement methodologies support. Position is open to Metrology Engineer level III, Senior or Principal based on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or in another Engineering or Physical Science
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering/metrology in a machining or manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of quality systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards including ISO 13485 and 21CFR 820
  • Expert in blueprint reading, GD&T and SPC
  • Advance knowledge of the GUM (Guide to Uncertainty in Measurement)
  • Statistical expertise with DOE and Capability Studies
  • Design software- Minitab
  • Process management
  • Ability to consistently achieve short and long-term business results
  • Train and mentor metrology personnel
  • Demonstrate leadership Skills
  • Experience with ERP and quality systems
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

Nice To Haves

  • 10 Years experience is preferred for the Principal level
  • Principal Level - Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or in another Engineering or Physical Science preferred
  • Continuing Education; including participation in local chapters, associations, and/or organizations

Responsibilities

  • Metrology engineering support for manufacturing and project management across multiple manufacturing capabilities and associated business units
  • Create, implement and promote programming standards that clearly define best practices to ensure measurement practices conform to customer design intent
  • Analyze data and identify improvement opportunities
  • Act as the metrology interface for other departments and external entities (customers, suppliers, etc.) in responding to non- routine and/or difficult measurement problems
  • Develop and maintain measurement roadmap and plan for future metrology needs
  • Research, adapt, develop, create new metrology methods and techniques
  • Research and adapt existing techniques to the benefit of the organization
  • Lead projects to improve consistency among measurement equipment
  • Lead projects to monitor measurement equipment performance in real-time rather than waiting for routine calibration to identify problems
  • Coach and mentor Quality Engineer levels, I, II, III, and Sr
  • Subject matter expert in one or more areas of the ASQ (American Society for Quality) QE BOK (Body of Knowledge)
  • Lead and participate in large company-wide projects providing metrology recommendations
  • Partner with sister companies to implement best practices
  • Lead validation activity of measurement processes
  • Support validation activity of processes, equipment, and metrology
  • Create protocols and analyze data
  • Site resource for GD&T and metrology issues
  • Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly
  • Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
  • Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work
  • Partner with other business segments: sales/marketing, customer service, engineering, quality, and finance
  • Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
