About The Position

The Optical Metrology Engineer will serve as the primary process engineering partner for optical inspection and measurement systems across the manufacturing floor. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining metrology processes that ensure accurate, repeatable, and high‑throughput inspection performance. The engineer will work closely with production, quality, and R&D teams to drive process capability, troubleshoot measurement issues, and expand the organization’s optical measurement toolbox.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands on experience with optical metrology tools such as interferometers, microscopes, profilometers, ellipsometers, or laser based inspection platforms.
  • Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals, including SPC, DOE, capability analysis, and structured problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively and concisely having leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills a must
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented mindset, diligent and accurate
  • Self-motivated, collaborative and flexible individual able to function in a high energy fast-paced team environment with minimal direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience/knowledge in optical parts fabrication such as optical grinding, shaping, polishing will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize optical metrology processes (e.g., interferometry, ellipsometry, laser‑based inspection) to ensure stable, high‑capability measurement performance.
  • Support inspection areas by monitoring process health, analyzing performance trends, and implementing corrective actions to improve yield, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Develop and maintain measurement capability through calibration strategies, gauge R&R studies, uncertainty analysis, and continuous improvement of measurement methods.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations for metrology‑related issues, including measurement drift, tool‑to‑tool variation, false positives/negatives, and data integrity concerns.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Train technicians and operators on proper tool usage, process controls, and best practices for optical measurement.
