About The Position

Located in Charlotte, NC, our MicroOptics site is part of Broadcom’s Optical Systems Division, and is responsible for the design and production of lenses and optical components used in data centers, lithography, and metrology equipment for industrial, medical, and consumer applications. As a Metrology Engineer, you will characterize new designs both in form and function in a cleanroom semiconductor manufacturing area while interacting with customers, vendors, R&D and operations teams to ensure that equipment, designs and processes are compatible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years, or Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Coordinate Measuring Microscopes, Confocal Microscopy, Lasers, photo detectors, Labview, Matlab
  • Strong practical experience utilizing data analysis software and statistical techniques, such as JMP or similar analytical packages.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven track record of successful, collaborative work in a team-based environment.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, characterized by a highly meticulous and systematic approach to work.
  • Proven ability to manage and execute projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new metrology recipes with various in house measurement capability
  • Builds test fixtures and data acquisition systems for new custom optics
  • Work closely with industry experts and equipment manufacturers to develop new capabilities
  • Recommend and implement equipment and process modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques and production yields for existing products.
  • Ensure all quality critical equipment and devices are in calibration
  • Ensure equipment is stable by utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Develops and conducts statistical analysis such as Design of Experiments (DOE) targeting physical cause of failure for yield loss and improving quality.
  • Collaborate with process and equipment engineers to identify and resolve equipment-related issues affecting production
