The Metrologist will calibrate, repair, and maintain precision measuring equipment, such as electronic, electro-mechanical, physical, dimensional, mechanical, and optical Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE). Also provides engineering support to Calibration Specialists within the calibration laboratory.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to meet background investigation requirements relevant to the position, consistent with applicable laws.
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment and random drug testing, in accordance with company policy.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Thorough understanding of the care and use of TMDE.
  • Good working knowledge of the calibration and maintenance of electronic, electro-mechanical, physical, dimensional, mechanical, and optical Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and calibration laboratory measurement standards.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical, electronics, electromechanical, mechanical, physics, optics, and thermal principles; mathematics and number systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, electronics, and/or physics, and operating principles of TMDE.
  • Knowledge required to read, interpret, and analyze block, schematic, and wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical publications.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting techniques, calibration traceability, metrology techniques, and safe laboratory practices.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

  • Interprets complex equipment specifications to develop reliable calibration methods, procedures, data sheets, and test reports.
  • Maintains and updates existing inventory of calibration procedures and forms.
  • Performs analysis to determine measurement process capabilities and measurement uncertainties.
  • Identifies, recommends, and evaluates test and measuring equipment to maintain and improve laboratory capabilities.
  • Assists technicians with technical issues and problems, including troubleshooting broken equipment and resolving measurement issues. This includes in-place calibrations as well as in-lab calibrations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
