Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in dimensional inspection, CMM programming, calibration, measurement system management, or quality verification within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, heavy industrial, or similar technical environments.
  • Hands-on experience with CMM operation and/or programming using platforms such as PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, Calypso, or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, optical comparators, surface plates, laser scanning systems, and related equipment.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, including the ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, blueprints, and tolerancing schemes.
  • Experience supporting MSA, Gage R&R, capability studies, calibration systems, PPAP documentation, and dimensional data packages.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and ISO 9001.
  • Strong documentation, data analysis, and technical communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred, though equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex dimensional inspections using CMMs, articulated arms, laser scanners, optical systems, and precision measurement instruments.
  • Perform first article inspections, PPAP dimensional validations, ECN-related inspections, and capability studies including Cp/Cpk analysis.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, models, GD&T schemes, datum structures, and functional requirements to evaluate product and tooling conformance.
  • Prepare detailed dimensional reports that clearly communicate findings, deviations, trends, and recommended next steps.
  • Maintain and improve calibration systems for gauges, fixtures, hand tools, and measurement equipment.
  • Support internal calibration activities, gage traceability, calibration intervals, labeling, and database accuracy to ensure audit readiness.
  • Conduct and support Measurement System Analysis, including Gage R&R, bias, linearity, and stability studies.
  • Validate production tooling, fixtures, jigs, and checking aids for dimensional accuracy and repeatability.
  • Partner with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot dimensional discrepancies related to fit, form, or function.
  • Support APQP, prototype evaluations, new product launches, containment activities, root cause analysis, and corrective action validation.
  • Recommend improvements to metrology processes, inspection workflows, measurement technologies, and fixture designs.
  • Assist in training operators and engineers on measurement tools, GD&T interpretation, and proper gage usage.
