About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of routine to moderately complex test technician duties. Calibrates, troubleshoots, and operates state-of-the-art instrumentation and equipment to measure a wide range of properties in materials or the environment.

Requirements

  • HS degree (or technical certificate or equivalent) plus 3+ years of survey/metrology experience or 1+ years of metrology experience at a DOE laboratory.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment of scientists and survey professionals.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write clear and concise technical documentation.
  • May be required to legally operate a government vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrates, troubleshoots, and operates state-of-the-art survey equipment in day-to-day survey operations, including spatial analyzers to operate laser trackers.
  • Performs data analysis of acquired field data and composes survey reports and documentation for scientific and engineering staff.
  • Conducts routine inspection and testing to ensure conformance to established calibration standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.
