About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals to join their team as Metering Services Technicians. This is a regular, full-time position with benefits. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Utilities Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's water treatment plant, 32 water wells, and 19 booster station facilities and share another water plant with the Town of Gilbert. The Utility also operates wastewater and reclaimed water infrastructure, including industrial wastewater/ brine reduction and three wastewater facilities. They treat over 64 million gallons of fresh water and treat over 30 million gallons of wastewater per day to class A+ reclaimed water to meet irrigation and industrial demands. Their water is received from four primary water sources: Salt River, Verde River, Colorado River and ground water supplied by their extensive well field facilities. They also use advanced treatment processes to recycle over 7 million gallons of industrial wastewater and return it back for industrial reuse. Service is provided to the City of Chandler residential, commercial, and industrial users by a network of 1,224 miles of active water mains, 942 miles of active sewer mains, and 92 miles of reclaimed water mains.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of experience with public contact or providing customer service
  • A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
  • Must pass a pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol test
  • Must pass a driving record check
  • Must be fingerprinted with successful results

Nice To Haves

  • ADEQ Grade 1 Water Distribution Certification
  • Previous meter reading experience
  • Previous experience using a handheld computer for data entry
  • Previous experience with a work order management system

Responsibilities
