Meter Technician - Examination
About The Position
This application is not for an immediate opening. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be able to work outside in all types of weather for an extended period of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
- Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required.
- Must have the ability to communicate in written and oral form.
- Minimum qualifications must be met as of the last day of the accepting applications.

Responsibilities
- Obtains requested meter readings for residential and commercial buildings and brick vaults.
- Investigates high bill complaint requests and possible leaks and final bills.
- Performs final readings before property demolition.
- Issues final notifications for delinquencies.
- Performs disconnects/reconnections for delinquent accounts.
- Installs, replaces, and repairs commercial and residential meters.
- Performs meter tests and investigations, emergency repairs, dig-ups, and turn-ons for new meter installs.
- Inspects new service line for domestic and fire lines.
- Inspects for violations, meter settings, and interior plumbing.
- Utilizes basic hand tools and reads measuring tapes.
- Operates handheld device and/or computer equipment as part of a work management or meter testing system.
- Categorizes, organizes, and recognizes all meter parts for a variety of meter types and sizes.
- Reads and programs all types of meters and dials.
- Performs basic math.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
